Blue Gold - L'OCCITANE

As Good As Gold

Lavender was one of the first flowers used by our founder, Olivier Baussan. Its unique fragrance has become an aromatic tribute to Provence, earning the nickname “blue gold” from locals. To honour our roots, we use lavender sourced from farmers cooperatives in Provence.

Grown Only In Provence

Lavender is a versatile and fragrant ingredient grown in the South of France. Its production is a year-round job – first growing our plants from seedlings, to planting them in our fields, to harvesting then finally distilling it into essential oils.
Lavender - L'OCCITANE

Using Only The Gold Standard

Our lavender essential oil comes directly from farmers’ cooperatives in Haute-Provence and is always P.D.O. certified. P.D.O. stands for Protected Designation of Origin. That preserves the purity of the ingredients, a commitment we cherish at L’OCCITANE.

The Source Of Gold

Our lavender producer Jérôme Boenle specializes in the production of PDO lavender, which is grown from seeds instead of cuttings to ensure the truest quality of lavender. Once fully bloomed, Jérôme harvests the flowers before it enters the distillery process.
